Privacy Policy for Torrent Play
Last updated: June 21, 2026
1. Introduction
Torrent Play ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect,
use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Torrent Files: Files and torrents you choose to download are stored locally on your device
- App Settings: Preferences such as download limits and storage locations
- Feedback: Any feedback or bug reports you voluntarily submit through Firebase Firestore. A randomly generated identifier is created on your device and attached to your submissions so we can group and respond to them. This identifier is not linked to your name or account.
2.2 Automatically Collected Information
- App Configuration: We use Firebase Remote Config to deliver app configuration updates (no personal data collected)
- Usage & Analytics: We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used. This includes screens viewed, in-app events and actions, and aggregate usage counts, along with app properties such as your selected app language, app version, and theme. Firebase Analytics may also infer an approximate (city-level) location from your IP address. This data is associated with a Google-generated app instance identifier, not with your name or account.
- Advertising Data: Google AdMob collects advertising identifiers (such as the Android Advertising ID) and ad interaction data, and shares this data with Google and its advertising partners to serve and measure ads.
Note: We do not require or create user accounts. We do not collect user data beyond what is described above through Firebase Analytics, Firebase Remote Config, Firebase Firestore, and Google AdMob.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information to:
- Provide and maintain the torrent download functionality
- Improve app performance and user experience
- Display relevant advertisements through Google AdMob
- Respond to user feedback and support requests
- Deliver app configuration updates via Firebase Remote Config
4. Data Storage and Security
- Local Storage: All downloaded torrent files are stored locally on your device
- Cloud Storage: Feedback submissions are stored in Firebase Firestore (Google Cloud)
- Security: We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data
5. Third-Party Services
Our app uses the following third-party services that may collect information:
6. BitTorrent Protocol
Torrent Play uses the BitTorrent protocol (via JLibTorrent) for peer-to-peer file sharing. When downloading torrents, your IP address is visible to other peers in the torrent swarm, and information about files you're downloading/uploading is shared with the swarm as part of the standard BitTorrent protocol.
7. Children's Privacy
Our app is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal
information from children under 13.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access and delete locally stored data by uninstalling the app
- Opt out of personalized advertising through your device settings
- Request deletion of feedback data stored in Firebase
